Mae gets a new face
Mae gets a new face

Bad news. Look what Mae’s doctor (the good Charles Franklin) found while trying to put my newly refinished truck bed in? Yeah. That part came out of her. Ew. Not good. So she’s getting some new parts in the truck bed and a good sand-blasting of the inner walls before her purty refinished bed goes in.

So while Charles had Mae apart, I figured we could do a little work to correct some plastic surgery gone wrong. Not just wrong. Seriously, hideously wrong. Whoever did Mae’s work needs to go back to school. And please, whatever you do Moto-Medical Board, please ban that person from BONDO.
If you notice on Mae’s new face to the right, you’ll see a seam that
connects the lower fender to the upper fender. Mae’s former hack
bondo’d over that seam, and then layered about 500 pounds on top
of that.
No problem, right? Dig it out! Uh huh.
In order to get all that Bondo out and off the front fenders, it would take about ten years. So Doc Charles had a solution.
Find a new front end.
And he found one on eBay.
I wasn’t so keen on the idea. I mean, it’s Mae’s face we’re talking about!! Changing her face changes her, doesn’t it? But... I understood his point. Would I rather have a car with a steel front end? Or one made of plastic body filler? My feller totally agreed with Doc Charles, and I want what’s best for my lovely little truck.... so... I bid on the front end and won.
Now I just need to figure out how to get it from Arizona to California. Maw and Paw picked it up at the guy’s house, and now Mae’s new face is sitting in a trailer in their backyard. Poor face. All alone...
Hey look! I’m already bonding to her! BONDING I said. Not Bondo-ing! no no no no bondo....
Someday I’ll get to drive Mae again.
And we’ll have so much fun!
We’ll chase Corvettes.
And torment Toyotas.
It’ll be great!
And when she’s back on the road, she might have some
new playmates in a ‘yet-to-be-named’ all girl car club.
Stay tuned for details.....
Repairing the bad “work”

Thanks, ebay, for providing Mae with a new face.
